Laser Vision Correction

What is vision correction surgery?

Vision correction surgery uses lasers or lens implants to fix common vision conditions including myopia (short-sightedness), hyperopia (long-sightedness), presbyopia (age-related long-sightedness) and astigmatism (uneven eye curvature).

Laser eye surgery

Laser eye surgery is used to reshape the cornea, the eye’s outermost lens, which is responsible for focusing light appropriately.

There are three types of laser eye surgery used at Mosman Eye Doctors, PRK (photorefractive keratectomy), LASIK (laser assisted in situ keratomileusis).

Lens implant surgery

Lens implant surgery corrects eye vision by replacing the eye’s existing lens, or by adding another lens to help redirect focus. In ICL (implantable contact lens) surgery a contact lens is surgically implanted within the eye, while Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE), involves the removal and replacement of the eye’s natural lens.
